Charting a Path between Impotence and Omnipotence
Malachi O’Connor is Senior Vice President and Principal of the Center for Applied Research (CFAR),and Consultant to for-profit and non-profit organizations to implement systemic changes that strengthen cultural values while measurably improving performance and productivity. Trained as an ethnographer, Mal works with clients to harness the often-tacit beliefs and assumptions of employees, managers and leaders, working with—rather than against resistance—to generate improved performance. His most recent book, The Moment you can’t ignore: When big trouble leads to a great future, focuses on the difference that paying attention to culture can make between change efforts that stall out and organizational transformation that delivers sustainable results. Mal holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Fairfield University, and a Ph.D. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations and The AK Rice Institute.

Brian Vitunic is a political affairs officer in the United Nations Department of Political Affairs (DPA) in New York. His work has included assignments in Afghanistan, Cyprus, Iraq, and Tajikistan, and more recently the topic of internal reform at the Organization. He holds a Masters of International Affairs (MIA) from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University.
Michael A. Diamond is Professor Emeritus of Public Affairs and Organization Studies University of Missouri, Columbia, Organizational Consultant and Steering Committee Member, The Gould Center.
