Institute for Psychanalytic Training and Research

IPTAR - Structure and Administration

There are three Boards of Directors at IPTAR.

The Board of Directors of the IPTAR Membership Society (Society Board) bears the ultimate responsibility for all activities at IPTAR and appoints the other two Boards of Directors. It is made of the elected officials of IPTAR and representatives of the IPTAR community and programs.

The Board of Administrators of the IPTAR Training Institute is responsible for the coursework and procedures of the program in Adult Psychoanalysis. This is the main training function that our Society provides.

The IPTAR Clinical Center (ICC) Board of Directors is responsible for the administration of the IPTAR Clinical Center whose central function is to provide the metropolitan community with high quality, affordable mental health services. Both candidates and members work in the Clinical Center.

All other programs at IPTAR report directly to the Society Board and often work in cooperation with the Institute and Clinical Center. Each Board has representatives on the other Boards to facilitate communication between the Boards.
